Bible Verse
Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not
be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you
wherever you go.”
Devotional
Fear is something everyone experiences at different moments
in life. It can come from uncertainty, challenges, or situations that feel
beyond our control. But in Joshua 1:9, God gives a powerful command and
promise: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
God does not simply suggest that we be courageous, He
commands it. This is because our courage is not based on our own strength, but
on His presence. We can face the unknown with confidence because God is always
with us.
Faith over fear means choosing to trust God even when we
feel afraid. It does not mean that fear disappears completely, but it means
that we do not allow fear to control our decisions. Instead, we rely on God’s
promises and move forward in faith.
Joshua was called to lead the people into a new and
uncertain season. It was a big responsibility, and it would have been natural
for him to feel afraid. Yet God reminded him that he was not alone. The same
promise is true for us today.
When we focus on God’s presence, our fear begins to lose its
power. We remember that God is greater than any challenge we face. His strength
gives us courage, and His faithfulness gives us confidence.
Today, whatever you are facing, choose faith over fear.
Trust that God is with you every step of the way, guiding and strengthening
you.
Prayer
Lord, Help me to choose faith over fear in every situation. When I
feel afraid or discouraged, remind me that You are always with me. Give me
strength and courage to move forward, trusting in Your promises. Fill my heart
with peace and confidence as I rely on You. In Jesus name, Amen.
