Bible Verse
John 10:27
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow
me.”
Devotional
In the middle of our busy lives, it can be difficult to
truly listen. Our minds are often filled with responsibilities, worries, and
countless voices competing for our attention. Because of this, we sometimes
forget to pause and listen to the voice that matters most, the voice of God.
In John 10:27, Jesus describes a beautiful relationship
between Himself and His followers. He calls them His sheep, and He is the Good
Shepherd. Just as sheep recognize and trust the voice of their shepherd, Jesus
says that His people listen to His voice and follow Him.
Listening to God does not always mean hearing an audible
voice. Often, God speaks to us through His Word, through prayer, through the
quiet guidance of the Holy Spirit, and sometimes through circumstances that
lead us in the right direction.
But in order to hear God clearly, we must be willing to slow
down and spend time with Him. When we read the Bible, pray, and open our hearts
to Him, we begin to recognize His guidance more clearly in our daily lives.
Jesus also says that He knows His sheep. This is a
comforting reminder that our relationship with God is personal. He knows our
struggles, our fears, and our desires. When we follow Him, He faithfully leads
us on the path that is best for us.
Today, take time to quiet your heart and listen for God’s
voice. As you draw closer to Him, you will learn to recognize His guidance and
follow Him with confidence and peace.
Prayer
Lord, Thank You for being my Good Shepherd who lovingly guides my
life. Help me to quiet my heart and listen to Your voice above all the noise
around me. Teach me to recognize Your guidance through Your Word and through
the leading of the Holy Spirit. Give me a willing heart to follow where You
lead each day. In Jesus name, Amen.
