Bible Verse
Matthew 21:9
“The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed
shouted, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David!’ ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of
the Lord!’ ‘Hosanna in the highest heaven!’”
Devotional
Matthew 21:9 captures a powerful moment when Jesus entered
Jerusalem and the crowds welcomed Him with praise and celebration. They shouted
“Hosanna,” recognizing Him as the One sent by God. This moment reminds us of
the importance of preparing our hearts to receive the King.
Preparing our hearts is more than outward celebration, it is
an inward posture of surrender, worship, and readiness. The people honored
Jesus with their voices, but God desires hearts that are truly open to Him.
Sometimes it is easy to praise God with our words but still
hold back parts of our lives. A prepared heart is one that fully welcomes
Jesus, not just as Savior, but as Lord. It means allowing Him to lead, guide,
and transform every area of our lives.
When we prepare our hearts, we make room for God’s presence.
We remove distractions, lay down pride, and choose to focus on Him. In doing
so, our worship becomes genuine, and our relationship with Him grows deeper.
The cry of “Hosanna” means “save us.” It is both a
declaration of praise and a recognition of our need for God. When we come to
Him with humble hearts, we acknowledge that He is the only one who can truly
save and restore us.
Today, take time to prepare your heart for the Lord. Welcome
Him with sincerity, worship Him with your whole heart, and allow Him to reign
in your life.
Prayer
Lord, Prepare my heart to receive You fully. Help me not only to
praise You with my words but to surrender my life completely to You. Remove
anything that keeps me from drawing closer to You. Teach me to worship You with
sincerity and to welcome Your presence every day. In Jesus name, Amen.
