Bible Verse
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Devotional
The Bible clearly teaches us an important truth about sin
and salvation. In Romans 6:23, we read that “the wages of sin is death.” Wages
are something we earn because of what we have done. In the same way, sin leads
to separation from God and spiritual death.
This reminds us that no one is perfect. Every person has
sinned and fallen short of God’s perfect standard. Because of this, humanity
cannot save itself by good deeds or personal effort.
However, the verse does not end with bad news. It continues
with a beautiful promise: “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus
our Lord.” While sin brings death, God offers life as a free gift through Jesus
Christ.
A gift is not something we earn. It is something given out
of love. God, in His mercy and grace, sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins.
Through Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, we are offered forgiveness and the
opportunity to receive eternal life.
When we believe in Jesus and place our trust in Him, we
receive this gift of salvation. Our past is forgiven, our hearts are renewed,
and we are welcomed into a relationship with God.
Today, remember that salvation is not something we achieve
on our own. It is a gift from a loving God. All we need to do is receive it by
faith and live each day with gratitude for His amazing grace.
Prayer
Lord, Thank You for the wonderful gift of salvation through Jesus
Christ. I know that I cannot save myself, but through Your love You have
provided a way for me to have eternal life. Help me to live with gratitude for
this gift and to share the hope of salvation with others. In Jesus name, Amen.
