Bible Verse
Psalm 23:1
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”
Devotional
Psalm 23 is one of the most comforting passages in the
Bible. In this verse, David describes the Lord as his Shepherd. This simple
image carries a deep and powerful meaning about God’s love and care for His
people.
A shepherd watches over the sheep, protects them from
danger, leads them to safe paths, and provides the food and water they need.
Sheep depend completely on their shepherd for guidance and protection. In the
same way, God cares for us with great love and attention.
When David says, “The Lord is my shepherd,” he is expressing
a personal relationship with God. It is not just that God is a shepherd, but
that He is my shepherd — the one who knows us, guides us, and provides for us.
The verse also says, “I lack nothing.” This does not mean we
will always have everything we want, but it means that God will always provide
what we truly need. When we trust Him as our Shepherd, we can live with
confidence knowing that He is watching over our lives.
Sometimes we may feel lost, uncertain, or worried about what
lies ahead. But the Good Shepherd never abandons His sheep. He gently leads us,
protects us, and guides us through every season of life.
Today, remember that the Lord is your Shepherd. You are not
alone. He is guiding your steps, caring for your needs, and leading you toward
peace and safety.
Prayer
Lord, Thank You for being my Good Shepherd who lovingly cares for
me. Thank You for guiding my life and providing what I truly need. When I feel
lost or uncertain, remind me that You are always with me, leading me on the
right path. Help me to trust Your guidance and rest in Your loving care. In Jesus name, Amen.
