Bible Verse
Luke 23:46
“Jesus called out with a loud voice, ‘Father, into your
hands I commit my spirit.’ When he had said this, he breathed his last.”
Devotional
Luke 23:46 captures one of the most powerful and intimate
moments of the cross. In His final breath, Jesus entrusted Himself completely
into the Father’s hands. Even in the midst of suffering and pain, He
demonstrated perfect trust and surrender.
The cross of Christ is a reminder of both sacrifice and
surrender. Jesus willingly gave His life for us, taking upon Himself the weight
of our sins. Yet even in that moment, He showed us what it means to trust God
fully.
Preparing our hearts begins with learning from this example.
Just as Jesus committed His spirit into the Father’s hands, we are called to
surrender our lives to God. This includes our fears, our struggles, our plans,
and our future.
Sometimes surrender is not easy. We may want to hold on to
control or try to manage things on our own. But the cross reminds us that true
peace comes when we place everything into God’s hands. He is faithful,
trustworthy, and full of love.
Good Friday is not only about remembering Jesus’ suffering,
but also about responding to His sacrifice. It invites us to come with humble
hearts, to reflect on His love, and to surrender our lives completely to Him.
When we prepare our hearts in this way, we experience a
deeper relationship with God. We learn to trust Him in every situation, knowing
that our lives are safe in His hands.
Today, take a moment to reflect on the cross. Surrender your
heart, your worries, and your life to God. Trust Him fully, just as Jesus did.
Prayer
Lord, Thank You for the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Teach me
to trust You completely and to surrender my life into Your hands. When I face
difficulties or uncertainty, help me to remember Your faithfulness. Prepare my
heart to follow You with full trust and obedience. In Jesus name, Amen.
