Bible Verse
Colossians 3:1
“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your
hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.”
Devotional
Colossians 3:1 reminds us of a powerful truth connected to
the cross of Christ: through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are given a new
life. We are no longer bound to our old ways, but are called to live with a new
perspective, focused on things above.
The cross was not the end, but the beginning of a
transformed life. Because Christ died and rose again, we are spiritually raised
with Him. This means our identity has changed, and our hearts are invited to
seek what truly matters in God’s kingdom.
Preparing our hearts begins with shifting our focus. In a
world full of distractions, it is easy to become consumed with temporary
things. But God calls us to lift our eyes higher to fix our hearts on eternal
truths, His presence, and His purpose for our lives.
When we set our hearts on things above, our priorities begin
to change. We grow in love, humility, and faith. We learn to let go of things
that pull us away from God and hold on to what brings us closer to Him.
A prepared heart is one that continually looks to Christ. It
is a heart that desires to grow, to be transformed, and to live according to
God’s will. Through the power of the cross, we are not the same, we are made
new.
Today, lift your eyes and set your heart on things above.
Let the truth of the cross guide your thoughts, shape your life, and draw you
closer to Christ.
Prayer
Lord, Thank You for the new life I have through the cross of
Christ. Help me to set my heart on things above and not be distracted by the
things of this world. Prepare my heart to seek You daily and to live according
to Your will. Transform my thoughts and guide my steps so that I may follow You
faithfully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
